Did you know that when kitchen blenders first were used it was called osterizing? That term came about because Oster was the company to manufacture kitchen blenders. People didn’t blend at that time, they osterized. Regardless of what they called it, a mini-revolution came to home kitchens everywhere with the arrival of home kitchen blenders.
At its basic core, a blender has to be able to blend ingredients that you want blended. That may seem obvious, but some blenders look great but are unable to blend or puree dense foods. Why would you spend money on a blender that can’t blend?
That’s not a problem with the Oster Pro 1200. This appliance has a delightfully powerful motor that can chop and puree just about any food. 1200 watts of power are available for blending and mixing and 900 watts are on hand for crushing ice. Does the ability to crush ice matter? Yes, you may be surprised at how difficult this task can be for some appliances. Luckily you won’t have a problem with this blender.
Easy To Use Control Panel
If you have ever been confronted with a control panel on an appliance that looked like it came from NASA, you will be pleased with how easy to use the panel on the Oster can be. There are seven speeds available, including pulse, and the keypad is simple and easy to follow. You don’t have to struggle with trying to program times and speeds, you just pick a speed and push a button.
The glass mixing jar is excellent. It is made of sturdy glass, has a convenient handle and holds up to 6 cups (48 ounces). The lid fits nicely and the lid and jar have a drip-proof spout. Both the jar and lid can go right into the dishwasher, making clean up very easy.
Mix Individual Drinks In The 24 Ounce To-Go Cup
Sometimes you don’t need or want to make a big batch of something, especially drinks or smoothies. With this appliance, you don’t need to. Just add your ingredients into the 24 ounce mixing cup, blend, snap on the lid and you have made one drink, ready to go. Both the cup and lid go into the dishwasher, making them convenient not only for use but for cleaning.
Should you buy this blender? Yes and no, which probably doesn’t help much. Yes, because it is a really good blender. You can crush ice easily, something that some blenders really struggle with. No, because it is a bit pricey compared to other blenders. This unit will usually retail for around $70. Still, the price shouldn’t put you off if you are looking for a workhorse blender.
